Gaz or Avo's are the normal coilovers people go for who just want coilovers.

Now if you want proper coilovers....well thats another story.

i found the Gaz coilovers a little harsh for road use, even altered the rear spring poundage as the ones supplied in there kits are far to extreme!!

they are ok for a budget entry level coilover but you would be better off using Koni's wth a decent spring package if thats what your looking for.

its a shame Leda went under, but there head man is up and running again, Leda's with alot more improvements and adjustment control, just ordered my set

depends what your budget is aswell

what do you want coilovers for if you dont want the ride to be hard?
no use in having coilovers if your gonna setup the car soft.or it to be soft handling.

Firm does not have to be spine breaking , decent spring rates and sensible damping and rebound rates will mean you have a nice compliant ride, but still nice and firm and controlled. Why people set there car up so hard is beyond me, they seem to think having no suspension will make thier car handle better

Mike do these require any rear bodywork as I have been told on my other thread about coilovers that this can be required with GAZ

Hi Martin,
Unfortunately ALL coilover kits on EVERY Cossie need the nearside rear wing "relieving" with a fuck-off big rubber hammer, just to stop the spring from rubbing on it and squeaking. I don't know why it is just this side, so must just be down to Ford's tolerances . If you don't do this, it does nothing more than just squeak and rubs the paint off the wing / spring.

Ben,
You have the AVO Monotubes as per their Grp A Escort, but specced to the same damping rates as the old LEDAs to give a comfort / ride compromise.

Due to the fact that the rears run upside down like the Evo TM's / some motorbike forks, the damper lengths didn't translate identically, so they were a little too short and had to be sent back to be modified, hence why yours have only just been sent back following the required mods .

Several weeks after your order had been initially received, one of the guys from LEDA set up his own company and has started to make dampers to an almost identical spec as the old LEDAs and given that I wanted to help him succeed, I ordered the next couple of kits from him .

In some ways better (monotube design), but in some ways worse (only 8 position adjustable) - it's swings and roundabouts .

Unfortunately at the time, this was the ONLY option available.
