Does the rev-counter jump about at the same time as the back-fire?

From what i've read on here, doesn't a rev counter playing silly buggers, and the car missing tend to point to the CPS?

If it's idling too high, that indicates an air leak to me - check to make sure the FPR hose hasn't blown off (or any other hose). This can cause high idle and misfire (as the fuel pressure won't be rising with boost, so it will be running lean ).

are your ht leads well away from the map sensor? as this can pick up signals/interference from them

Mike Rainbird

thank you mike, but i pressuried the boost system and got no sign of an air leak except the slight hiss from amal valve

THE RADMAN

not really, im on coilpack, they run through inlet manifild, under top boost hose and next to header tank where the coilpack is, they always been there and this problem has only just started.

they are over 6 inch away id say

i had a burnt out ecu bord in my one when i got it, sent it to Engine Advantages who had it tested and replaced the faulty parts.
( incedently i had a missfire / cutting out, that turned out to be a fault in the loom that burnt the bord out but the rev counter used to drop off at the same time. sorted the short and the ECU and has been fine...
