Standard CD Player help?????
Right i have just bought a ford 2040 cd player to go with my ford 2007 tape/radio that ive already got. Please not i already have the amp and radio set up and running in the car so just need to add the CD player.
Now heres the problem. I already have the grey loom that goes from the tape deck to the amp. When i bought the CD player it came with the same type of loom as this but obviously a spur off to go to the cd player, so i obviously had to swap the original grey cable for this. ( note the new 1 is grey and black)
No on the back of both the cd and the tape units there is 1 socket left on each.
Now i am thinking that i have a loom missing that should plug into both these connectors to spur off the tape deck to power the cd player?
Am i right? some pics or techinal info would be great as dont feel im getting anywhere fast
all help will be gratefully received
cheers Mark

if the orignal radio will do the cd player as well i think you are on baout the leads that have the fine pins with them
the earlier ones had red blue and yellow colour coding on the, but th elater ones had the gray or black ribbons on them with plain plugs on the ends
i've got a few sets tucked away so when i get to the other place i'll take a few pics and put them up

Right heres the pic i took
I think i need the loom that plugs into the top black connector that is horizontaly placed on both units?
I think this is the power to the unit as the cd unit has a fuse next to it!

the loom you need is one that does the power for both units
the mornal plug plus another one with a red backing which looks like a later day plug from ford with a push in clip at one side
the connector cable you need is going to have a wide plug to go into the back of the stereo and then one black one which splits off to go to the back of the other unit and the other end will go to the amp
the loom that you've got i the car will probably be the earlier one which won't fit the back
i've got 2 of these looms somewehre but ever since i moved the old man has started being able to do stupid stuff with no one to stop him
i'll put some pics up wheni get home later on in the day

you will probably have this lead in the back of your car
it won't fit the stuff you've got
you need the ribbon cable which splits between the 2 from radio to cd player and radio to amp
unfortunatly the old man seems to have lost the bag with all 3 looms in it so i will disassemble the car i've got with that loom in it thats in the garage if you need pics of that one
but that won't happen until tomorrow afternoon/evening at the earliest at the moment but if you want to know what it looks like, it's a bit like the one you can make out here running along the top of the picture

Ive found out that i am definatly missing the power cable
those u put up above might be right but the one i def need has female ends on both ends and is a six pin and is rectangle barring a little notch on the 1 corner that locates the connector in the right orientation.
What are the possibilities of you sending me some of the leads and me perhaps giving you back what i dont need at one of the shows (Central day?) and you let me know how much u want for em etc?
you seem to know what ur on about with these stereos so im trusting your knowledge. lol As im not clued up on the standard stuff! lol

assuming the old giffer hasn't binned them, i'll probably send you the ones from the other car (it's been garaged for the best part of 2 years anyway so it's not as if i'll miss it )
i'm sure we can come to some sort of arrangement

Hello Mate
I have read through as requested, but can't offer much assistance, I was reinstalling the radio I took out 2 years ago when I stripped the car.
It does look like you have the wrong cable though, i'll be at the central day if you want to bring it along and try and offer some guidance?
Cheers
Paul
