Default Hi Spec Brake Kits

Are they any good, Anyone have them fitted ? Seen them advertised in PF magazine. They're a bit cheaper than AP.

They get a slagging on here, basically just because they're not AP's...

They're good brakes though, i've had 2 sets in the past with no problems at all

I think the biggest reason for the slagging is Hi-specs legandary customers-service?

I have used them in the past, returned a pair of calipers to me recond still with blasting medium in them.
They also fitted a pair of cossie 4 pots to a sierra for me, after 100 or so miles as new top surface of the pads have worn away and they were bedding in, they(the pads) started hitting the alloy bells on the discs, as by their own admission they had "forgotten" to grind a few mm off the inner edge of outer pad.
He also refaced these discs under warranty for me as they had warped he did one side took out the disc put in lathe the other side on and did that side!!, not clever but I saw this myself, no back facing there then.
When I had the bells checked at another engineering place they were 6 thou runout in both, so run out at edge of disc was obviously more.
Just my experience, although I admit that I have heard good things about his work, and he ahs dispense with the employee that did some of the work on my stuff.

I've ordered 360mm 6 pots for the front and 330mm 4 pots for the rear in gold, minimum 4 week wait, and the rear uses the standard handbrake without the need for hydraulic one

That's because a HYDRAULIC one is an MOT failure.

i would have to agree with you mate

every time i've ordered bits from them i've been there and talked to geoff directly to sort out what i want and it gets done, be it drilling the discs in a particular pattern or spacing the calipers to take a 36mm disc

but you've got to stand over them to make sure stuff goes on and happens as and when you want it

it's not unusual for me to have been stood there for an hour trying to sort out stuff

but he does give me a fair amount of discount on his stuff so fair play to him

mine were on the car when i bought it,and i can say i havnt had any problems wotsoever they are spot on!
i do agree with some of you on the customer service though,i had to get the rears swapped when i bought the car for the ones with the handbrake levers, the ones on the car had no handbrake levers when i bought it and were supplied tempory to the previous owner, as the handbrake ones were still in production at the time, and the hasstle i had getting them is another story i could write a book lol..

oh well all sorted now though

Because with a hydraulic handbrake, the pressure bleeds away over a period of time and so the handbrake releases itself .

You should have come through me, I do corking deals on Hi-spec stuff AND you get my customer service to boot .

it took the best part of a year to get the petent sorted
he wouldn't let them go otherwise
then there was the problem of one of the seals leaking after loads of applications so they needed another reworking of them
