Took my stage 3 Escos to Motorscope a few weeks ago, to check the fuel and boost. No problems but just to be on the safe side as I had just fitted a rs500 intercooler and it looked like I had gained extra boost. Anyway the guy had it for hours messing on with it because it was only peaking 20 psi instead of up to 28psi anyway on the way home and ever since the back box keeps poping when I touch the accelerator (over fueling?)anyway I've only done a couple of hundred miles since, and now it wont start when it does it runs like a proper bag of shite and if you take your foot off the accelerator it cuts out any ideas whats wrong I've changed the plugs which I had just replaced and there black.

sounds like a air leak or burst pipe to me, i would just check round all the pipes and also take a look at the map sensor to make sure the little lug hasnt snapped off it(very common)

 

Ok mate cheers, so where is the map sensor?

 

passenger side inner wing under a bracket not really visible at a glance.right underneath where the header tank is. a vacuum pipe will go to the inlet from it.

 

Ok I've checked the map sensor and it seems fine and can't see anything wrong with the pipes anything else I should be looking for?

 

try swaping the map sensor for another one, changing the engine temp sensor (the blue one) or failing that a specialist like MSD that have the parts in stock to diagnose AND repair the fault.

had this happen to mine.ran then popping misfiring cutting out etc.the intercooler to turbo hose was off ever so slightly.fixed her back up and ran fine

 

as the youth says take it a specialist who
will probably find the fault straight away

 

Thats the thing it's going straight to MSD as soon as I find out whats wrong with it but it really is undriveable at the minute I'll have another look tomorrow
