Hi guys, apologies for the delay, I finally got my head back! It is now ready to fit, so will be ready to go by the end of September .... As before, it has been a bit of a nightmare as I have had so many problems it is untrue! Hopefully everyone that has been patient will get their reward when Stu finishes this off!
It would be nice to get 350bhp while there's still some oil left to run it on...
Should be great once this is sorted - the money's burning a hole in my pocket. Bring it on!!

I'm in the RAF, and work away from home, so unfortunatly I have been at work all week, should be working on the car tomorrow.
Just need a few things doing, hopefully tax it and have it ready to run in for next weekend.

FFS still no news on this. Is it really not possible to use another car? Surely the whole point is that the upgrade needs to be reproducable so it can be sold. It looks like Will just doesn't have the time to devote to this any more - and some of us have been waiting for this for two years or more.
Are we saying that if Will never brings his car back this will never happen? If not - how much longer are you going to give him before allowing someone else to step in? Will said in July 2008 that it was "almost done"... FFS this thread was started in 2006 - and its now 2010!!! And we're no closer now than we were two years ago.
This is sooo frustrating - and I am on the verge of giving up now and going a different route as a couple of others have. I've got the money to spend on this, I've offered a loan of my car what else can any of us do?
Stu - you must realise how frustrating this is? Is there absolutely no way that you can use a different car just to get this moving for us small turbo owners?
AAAAAGGGGGHHH

Update time! Sorry for the long delays, but working away, crap weather and money all play thief part ...
But, the good news is I did 60 miles yesterday, and the car behaved very well. It just needs the breather sorting that Martin Hadland is going to sort, and a few other small issues, but I aim to have it with MSD by the end of April now the weather and light are better! I feel your frustration at the timescale, but there is no point sending a less than 100% perfect car to map is there?

I know what you're saying mate - but some of us have literally been waiting years for this. If it wasn't for this thread I would have ditched my ECC-IV a couple of years back and gone for aftermarket management. But I've held off...and off...deadlines come and go and no updates.
Just frustrating that MSD won't hear of using anybody else's car,- do they want to sell these things or not?
I'm looking at alternatives now... Just can't be waiting on this anymore tbh.

Stu,
What's the maximum power chip that MSD do for the small turbo cossy at the moment? How much is it?
If I were to buy one of these - would you agree to give me a discount if I were to buy the "new" tuning package when it comes out? I want more power but don't want to end up having to pay twice. If you would allow some kind of "trade in" of the old tuning package for the new one that would be great.
Just a thought.

Just curious as to how this is going? Did you get it back to MSD in April as you hoped?
Cheers

Hope you're not all holding your breath for this conversion; you'd be very blue by now!!!
I gave up waiting and have just finished a big turbo conversion, very easy to do, cost very little and I have 380hp available RIGHT NOW!

Well; I actually bought a complete 2wd saff engine complete with loom ancilleries and ecu; I also had all the running gear from the same car so I could also convert it to rwd at the same time.
I paid 2k for all the parts which are in tip top condition and did all the work myself, but I reckon you could buy all the parts and do it yourself for about 2-3 hundred quid.
Dont forget, the parts you remove off the small turbo engine, i.e crank pulley and phase sensor are worth quite a few pennies!!!

afer a loong time of waiting for this conversation i decided to go for a haltech platinum 1000 ecu.
a friend of mine has installed it in 1 day and after a few setup-runs the car runs very smooth!
turbo is a t34.48 and siemens 55lbs injectors and innovative lc1 wideband lamda controller.
edis, airflow-meter, genuine map sensor and eec-iv were removed and we made a plug in adapter from a diagnosis-loom from a fds 2000!
the signals from the edis were looped through with an adapter plug from a fds 2000 loom,
the others go to the 2 channel ignition module.
the engine bay looks very genuine, the ignition module is at the battery
afr-display
wasn´t on the dyno until yet but i´m hoping for 330bhp.
regards,
philipp

That looks great mate, - what have you done about a phase sensor? I've picked myself up an EEC-IV breakout box so I can use the plug for a conversion like this as I gave up on the MSD one some time ago. I was thinking about Megasquirt but for some reason people don't seem to use it on cossies. I'm investigating the various alternatives now.
If this keeps up MSD will have lost all of their potential customers for this which is a shame. They should have finished it on another car as this whole conversion has become something of a joke in the cossie community. They don't even respond to questions on here properly any more either.
So much for the end of April...

the sensors are all the genuine one, except the new 3 bar gm map sensor!
on the haltech you can choose the 36-1 crankwheel and the hall effect sensor from the camshaft.
it has started at the first attempt.then you have to determine the offset with the "ignition gun" and that´s it with the ignition!
i also have measured the response line of the iat and water coolant sensors cause i found no data on the net.
also the air condition is integrated in the ecu (idle up/deactivated at full throttle and so on)

Stu, why don't you use MarkN's car to finish this conversion? Seems like there is a lot of interest for it. Wouldn't it be better to use a standard car to start off with anyway rather than one with a built engine with different cams, comp ratio etc?
Get it finished as it might be the difference between me keeping or selling my ST escos!
