Oh dear............thinking of selling up!!
Well after what seemed like forever, i finally found the 'perfect' escos.
The car is superb, immaculate, mint, one of the best i have seen
But, it just doesnt get used. Im fed up of just looking at it everyday in my garage. When ever im out in my company car i always see people in there nice cars (m3's, evos etc..) and wish i was in mine But i wont bring it out unless its a dry sunny weekend Plus i dont drive it hard as i dont want any stone chips
So ive been thinking sell up and buy either a Skyline R33 GTR or an Evo 6 TM At least this way (especially with the evo) it would get used so much and what ever the weather And i would up the power and USE it
Oh what a dilemma....................i know if i sell the car i will regret it as i love the escort cosworths, and i will never be able to find another one like it again

thats the problem with nice escorts..
to stay nice they have to be pampered
and to hold thier money they need to be pampered..
one reason i didnt buy (or want) a concourse cossie..because i knew it would just get wrecked from racing etc

mate i NEARLY did the same as you, ive got a minty mint escos and i never used it because i was scared to get it wet, then after some shit in my life i needed a drive in my cossie BUT... it was pissing down anyhow i thought fuck it and went out and had the most fun drive ive ever had, now i use the car what ever the weather, im currently preparing it for when i get it on the track, ive had sooo much fun with it recently and i tell you, thats all you need to do, get it out, its a car, it has 4 wheels for a reason, if i can escape the shackles of buftyness so can you!!! mmmm wheres that muddy field??? i smell drifting!!! just got to 30,000 miles in mine and i WILL not be selling it, but before when she sat in the garage, my dream car gave me no enjoyment, now my dream car is the dream, 2nd gear clip the limiter, hear the pop, and do it again and again, -------------------right im off to do some back lane storming
to summerise? drive it, enjoy it, lighten up!

Unfortunately the car is tooooo good for all that
If i keep it then i have BIG plans, but i dont want to start spending over winter and then realise i want an evo and have to sell it with me just spending out on it

Drive it to National Day, and put provisional for sale signs in the windows.
Then if someone spots it and makes you a good offer, you might be tempted to buy that Evo!!!!!
If someone flashes the cash in your face, you'll find out how much you do love it!!!
Make sure you tell me where you park mate, i might just come and bite your arm off myself!

Mate i understand the situation, hard decision, but i havent looked back since TBH
Love the evo and i use it all the time, infact ive covered more miles in 3 weeks than i did in 12 months in the Cos!!
Escos is my all time fav, but the evo is better for my situation! Once you do the underside, you will use the car even less!
Just think before you make a decision!

I know it must be so hard to use it when its sort of concourse spec, but its mad really cos the real enjoyment comes from driving it and just turning heads everywhere you go all the time, even pottering along all the time is a real buzz in a escort. i wanted a nice, right, clean one to use every day from april to sept but i wouldn't want to use her in the winter with road salt ect, would you not sell and buy a clean useable one? have a friend in exact same boat and he's thinking of selling up too.

I would say sell it, if you dont use it then you might as well get rid of it for good money and get the evo so you can use it. End of the day it might look pretty in the garage and on sunny days but what about the other say ten and a half months??

Nick this sounds familiar, it is such a dilemma, I truely love my car but I am sure it will have to go next year as I said to you
However I know I will replace it as I just can't be without Cosworths and unless a mint moonstone 500 pops up the Escos is King to me, I would undoubtebly get an Evo but only in addition to the Escos
Dont you just love opening the garage door to see it sat their patiently waiting for you, I just cant see the Evo invoking the same feeling in me, and if you get a Tommy Makk you would probably bufty that too as they look sooo
My advice (which incidently I dont listen to myself ) is to drive it more and clean it more, best of both worlds

Sell it take the money buy another one cheaper and enjoy driving on your own ,if you buy an evo it will be like having your misses in the ecu teling you what to do. You love the the cars but have never yet driven one due to fear of stone chips, your missing so much fun.

Id keep it, but by the sounds of it, an Evo might suit you better. If your actually considering selling it, then id say deep down you want a car to 'use'.
Ill be the first to admit i hardly use mine, and definatly spend more time pampering it then driving it, but i wouldnt have it any other way. Its half the enjoyment in my opinion.
Id stick a for sale sign in and take it to the national day and as sblewer said above.......''If someone flashes the cash in your face, you'll find out how much you do love it!!! ''

paint can be re-applied, wheels can be replaced, engines can be rebuilt, and its got underseal for a reason Get out there and enjoy it mate, whatever the weather , my T25 cos is awsome fun to drive in the wet, can feeeeel the 4x4 searching for grip, and it looks stunning with a light sheen of water over it , mate, there is no point polishing a car to show to a load of people once a year on the back of a trailer, its a fuckin car not a oil painting
I will try not to use mine too much in the winter just becasue of our obsession with thowing the most corrosive things we can find all over our roads , but where is the enjoyment in not using a car? I drive mine everywhere at the moment, and sad as it sounds, you cant't beat the feeling of people everywhere staring at the car as you drive past I had 3 people come up to me just tonight after I parked it at the pub, complimenting the car , and its got 100k on it, but still looks stunning
mate, you only live once, very briefly don't waste your life polishing bleed nipples and exhaust nuts

I like a mint car, and I respect originality especially in the looks department but as much as would love a concourse car you gotta drive it mate, thats why with mine, its far from concourse but It's pretty good in my opinion and yes it does have stone chips and the under side is covered in waxoil and dirt but I'm not afraid to use it
So if I was you yes I would sell it and let someone else worry about stone chips etc, but get another decent Esc Cos and use it for what it was made for

no what you mean mate, mine never comes out in the rain and drove it slow when first got it then on way back from ford fair I thought fuck it and opened it out a bit, now I want stage 3 over winter and cant wait for next summer, but I see where your going with the evo idea, it pops into my head sometimes

Where does it say if you're a bufty you cant drive your car? I drive my car whenever i feel like it, and if its raining then so what. I drove through torrential rain yesterday to get to National Day and still got a good result. I'm currently going through some ideas for a big power upgrade and coilovers etc so I can do the odd trackday, but you can guarantee I'll still be doing concours next year.
As said above, lighten up mate its only a car
No Michael, people from Norfolk should be castrated so they cant bring any more cousin loving inbred goons into this world

Just use it like a second car as most do, thats what i do and have done for 7 years, it cleans up again.
I havent got all my mods on the car just for show as i love to give it a good hard run now and again and evern some track time.
So go on use it and injoy it you wont hurt it
