after rebuilding my head there was a little water leak coming from somwwhere near the front of the block, could see water kicking off the timing belt, very minimal so today i investigated and i think it must have been coming from that stupid little piece of pipe that connects the thermostat housing to the water pump, about 1 1/2" long. i replaced the standard jubilee clip with a slightly broader stainless steel one. all sorted now. will replace it with a piece of samco next time.

always renew that pipe if you undo it,its not worth messing with,dont buy one from fords though as its about £20
