one of the most spectacular times i was watchin/servicing in ulster, saw pete doughty in his blue sapphire, was great watching t hat through the lanes, then at the finish, ive never seen a 4wheel drive car do such a spectacular burnout in the middle of ulter town centre on the way to the finish ramp, just straight line , all four wheel pouring smoke off them

unfortunately afaik we will never see a BASTOS rally car
again, as motorsport and these dont mix anymore
Patrick still rallys though,and i wish i could post up a pic of him
in the evo's he has driven lately,but as this is the escort Coz
forum,you will have to make do with this
proper driver's don't worry about things like this
they just get to the end of the stage,try and fix it
or get it in to service

and later by some scottish Geezer called Colin McRae. it was built by

The sapphire u r talking about is about to become property of TFRallyesport. Its a G plate and previous owner on the logbook is still McRae. Theres a pic of it in my workshop on my website www.motorsportwiring.co.uk .Yes I'm on about Hugh Hunter's car, both are customers of mine. its a hard one to call between Frank and Stephen Finlay regarding escort cosworths,but as an overall driver Frank wins hands down

in fact I dont think the stages have ever been the same(for me anyway)Stephen Murphy in my view was totally over rated!Boland wouldnt drive a greasy stick up an elephant.Over the years he's had the best of machinery and always been totally outclassed by lesser machines....
