I was fitting my new thermostat today and managed to strip the thread out of the housing that attaches to the block
My mate is going to try to helicoil it but its still a real pain, good job I actually drove it this morning or I would be even more pissed off-it seems to be one thing after another at the moment
Has this ever happened to anyone else and what did you do?

I'd have nipped out and got an M8 tap, tapped out the threads from M6 to M8, drilled out the housing to clear the M8 bolt and stuck an M8 bolt in it!!!

 

Daz-hopefully it will be that easy
