It depends on ambients and engine load / road speed, so is impossible for me to give a relevant answer .

If you could be more specific on the above lines...

ACTs at cruising speed are COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY IRRELEVANT . They will ALWAYS be just above the ambient mark - even with a shit intercooler. The true test is FLAT OUT, fully loaded in 4th / 5th .

Just tell him I said it was okay and that you were just testing your intercooler .

on cool evenings and cruising calmly at around 40mph with no need for turbo can see temps in the range of 3 - 8 degrees.

average cruising temps at 70mph this time of year are sitting around 20 - 22 degrees.

over the past few days whilst travelling to/from lemans with steady cruising at 90mph, and ambient temps of 35 was still showing 23ish degrees inlet, but under hard acceleration out there at 36psi was creeping my inlet temps up to approx 34degrees. (but that was full load all the way thru 4th and 5th until hitting limiter in 5th!!)

if that helps atall!!

It's physically impossible for inlet temps to be lower than ambient temps unless you have a charge-cooler arrangement AFTER the air to air intercooler .

I 'think' I get about 30 deg ACT showing on a track-day, but I do have a charge-cooler.
