Default Gear Knob? which one?

I want to change my gear knob on my Escort Cosworth, the cars fitted with a stupid alloy one at the minute that is held on with a small screw. So ive took this of to reveal threads on the lever... I thought it would be push fit. So my question is should I buy the screw knob or the push fit one? surely I need the screw one???

There's two types of std EsCos gearknob, push fit & screw fit (if you have threads on your stick, then I'd imagine you need the screw fit).

There's also a proper Ford alloy one (from the Monte) but they get hot as hell in the summer

Im pretty sure its the screw one, was hoping to find someone who had changed a push fit one to confirm they didnt have threads?

As Billabong said, I'd certainly assume with yours having threads that it is the screw fit version you need! Go for a Focus RS one instead, they look awesome

i have just changed my gear knob for a genuine ford one, cost £7.41
and it was a push fit, dead easy to do as the piece of crap other one
used to fly off in my hand.it had no theads, it just banged on
makes a huge differance,a new proper gear knob and gaiter

There is. Small turbos are screw-on, big turbos push-on. I don't know if it's true for every car. I fitted push on original Monte knob on small turbo though.

when you ordered the part what year car did you look for?

or do you now know the part no. for the screw fit gear knob?

put your other 1 on ebay, usually go for around £10
