I'm pretty sure it was 3500 identical samples at the time for Grp.A, but I don't care enough to look through FIA sporting code

They made more than required 2500 of the homologation model (that's not just an LT model, it had the WI nozzle, water 'bag tank', piping & pumps), can't remember the exact figure though.

Speedy G. they may be making up those figures. Tryphon Georgalides form rallycars.com has even some yearlyproductionnumbers on his site. Someone from here posted some other number and you yet another.

I think someone knows for sure but you can count those things in many manners. Probably it depends if you count rallycars or not, if you count some incomplete or special cars if you count shells assembled at Karmann or whole cars etc.

The figure I quoted is for production ending 10th January 1996, maybe some more were made after that. I also have seen some Cosworth quoted production figures of 5181 YBT engines and 2026 YBP engines ending 15th December 1995.
