Default Oil consumption

Hello.

Just wandering, how much oil does your cossy "eat"?

If i give it a hard time I can reach aout 0.5-1 liter per 1000 kilometers

this was discussed recently, i use my car like a wimp and stretch its legs very rarely, my car is bogo standard, so far it hasnt used a single droplet of oil.

to be honest id expect a car of this performance and age to use alittle but not massively excessive

1 liter to 1000km is the limit.anything in between is good.

the handbook states that upto 1 litre of oil usage (dependant upon driving style and conditions) is normal per 1000km (600 miles)

so thats normal, and thats from new

dont worry

i think a better way of gauging it is "how much smoke comes out the exhaust"

What if there is no smoke coming out of the exhaust (not anything at all) and nothing wet in the exhaust downpipe/turboexhaust... hmm and actualy nothing in my breather without a drain?? No leaks from seal and so..

Mine uses juuuust under a litre pr 1000km..

Can it burn "so much" oil witout it to be seen??

I was enquiring about exactly the same thing a couple of weeks ago matey and the main reason I was getting from people on here why it might be doing this seemed to be leaning towards worn piston rings/ bores! I obviously came back at that suggestion with the line "but wouldn't you see clouds of smoke from the rear?" to which I got the response "No not really, it uses most of the oil when on boost therefore the engine is pumping that much air through it that you won't see the smoke"
How many miles has your car done and is it running standard boost etc as this can raise the oil consumption figure if it's been chipped or whatever??

Hi 330Cosworth

A little chip, earlyer it was 275bhp (now between 230 and 275 because of lower boost when changed actuator), city driving a little highway and not much beating.

VERY healthy and fresh when driven, and still it have done 178.oooKM no bad sounds when cold or other..

I am very sure that it must have some blowby... when warm and driving hard there are no smell of oil from for instance the breather.
