Ok after refitting the centre console etc and general tidying up.. my boot release doesnt work

now it doesnt work from the button between the window switches

AND

doesnt work from the remote fob on my alarm..

can anyone describe the route of the wiring and what it involves before I have to take the console off again!

 

just pop the button out mate and get a test light/probe and check there is power at the switch.. if there is power at the switch pop the tailgate from the inside and check there is nothing stopping from making the contacts on the tailgate work properly..

If there anything like a standard escort, the contacts in between the boot usually gets shitted up so just clean it with some sand paper. And iirc they earth through the tailgate hinge. So when this gets rusty you dont get a cuircit. Thats where ive always had my problems

if it is the hinge, give it a good tap with a drift and a hammer and get some spray grease round it..

 

Gonna try this on mine as the boot release does not work and i have changed the switch..
