Default Escos lap of the Nurburgring

This has probably been shown before but is well worth a look, I am sure Mike will comment on it as he has experience of this place - to me it's an awesome bit of driving-all the more impressive is the M3 at the start which keeps ahead

I was going to say the same as Jakub, the Escort looked as though the front end was set to "ditchfinder" mode . Also, I can't make out why the M3 backed off and let him through half way round .

Seemed half reasonable time given the handling deficiencies of his set up . However, the way the M3 pulled away at the beginning was very impressive .

I would say the Escort must be no more than 330bhp, as on 1.5 bar (around 350-360bhp in my car), I can match locally driven CSLs around there and push the V10 Ring taxi round .

Shame it handles like a pig looking for a trufle (sorry I don't know the spelling of the word)

Mike you know as weel as anybody that the Ring is not about power. The are probably racing drivers who could do such a lap in standard Elise + handling setup, the key is (I think) going flat out through blind corners in 5th gear in the 3rd part of the track. It takes balls of steel and some handling. Doesn't it?

By the way - Mike I'm sending you an e-mail.

Judging by the steering wheel it looks like it has an air bag so it could either be a big turbo conversion or even still a small turbo as it doesn't accelerate that well on the flatout section at the back of the circuit.
