Im posting this on behalf of a mate who was looking at escort cossie. He noticed that it never had a sunroof .my friend thinks its a motorsport shell but the seller said that motorsport shells are in white and are seem welded and that some cossies come without a sunroof + it has cloth interior . Could this be a genuine cossie or not. please help

 

Motorsport shells didn't have sunroof and where supplied in white minuis and underseal/seam sealer so that they could have seam welding and cages fitted etc. They where not seam welded from the factory
As they are supplied in bare form it doesn't take a lot to do a full body respray in any colour.
Other tell tell signs are non rear opening rear windows and mix match of small turbo and big turbo parts.
A few pic's would tell a lot to me.

 

don't the exported cars have no sunroofs too aswell as sunroofs.

if it was a motorsport model it will say on the colour tag.

 

You could buy M/Sport shells fully built and running

As above though prob is a M/sport, or as Dave says for the export market best thing to do is take the VIN to Ford and they will tell you

 

Did they only make motorsports in white then??

have seen some 'motorsport' versions advertised and they were mallard green.

could have been resprayed in its time though.

some motorsport shells were mallard green from the factory, paul at NYRSS used to own one.
Also my car was built for export (it went to singapore!) and has a sunroof.....

hi there! i went to italy to see a escort cosworth for sale it was a
miki biasion edition 1992 with no sunroof and full leather inc the full doorcards,it wasnt a motorsport shell had electric windows and no opening rear windows,i would of bought it if it hadn't been smashed into a ball then repaired not as good as it should have been,but did go fast as the owner was a member of bulldozer drag racing team,and yes i checked the thing out and found other people with miki biasion escorts
never read about them in fast ford etc...

 

hi i have heard of them miki biasion editions and there is one for sale at the moment on www.autoscout24.de you can do a european search and find all the cossies for sale in mainland europe.there are loads for sale in italy and good prices aswell.

 

thanks bam, i have seen lhd italian cossies for sale they are indeed very popular in italy.i have owned a few of them,best was a sicilian 4x4 sierra cos that was 101% rust free,the european cossies throw up a few suprises
on the spec of them ,the italian escorts are not called lux but something else,i think it was executive or somthing,but them biasion cossies with no sunroofs do look good,have also seen wrc escorts with magnesium this that and the other and no sunroofs and they were roadcars,i always thought the motorsport ones had a tag saying so on the front panel.
