Fuel pumps - Flavour of the month
It seems that fuel pumps have become a big issue lately.
I have realized that high HP cars of over 400 hp need very special fuel requirements.There are ways to overcome them but in order to do it propperly one must take the $$$$ plunge.
I am just short of 550hp. Instead of running external pumps i opted for a two pumps in tank DIY conversion.
I took 2 x 250l/h walbro in tank pumps , used the existing supply and return line as the two feed lines to each of the fuel rails (old type 8 injector) and then a Aeromotive 2in 1 out FPR returning into a 10mm newly run line to the tank.
It holds 5 bar fuel pressure at 2 bar boost and has more than enough volume to cope with the hp.
I was going to use the intank pump to supply a acumalator/surgetank and 2 external pumps but a fuel pump does not like to run without pressure and tends to fail. A high volume pump is needed but that is too much hassel to find one and install it.
I ended up with a easy solution !

that's the way it's done on WRC cars... but well done if have managed to fit two pumps in the genine tank. I've a bosch 023 and it's short!

I will mail the photos to Dave later today .
Im using 2 Walbro 341 pumps which is their high HP pumps.
I used the original feed line and increases it to 10mm. i then added a shaft pipe to it and use a 70mm hoseclamp to secure the two pumps to the pipe.
Also the fuel line in between the 90 degree elbows hold the pumps in place.
Im now upgrading the relay for the fuel pump to a 75 amp device.
