if u have a one peice prop in it allready then u can use that as it is the as an RS but if you are going to put on a capri atlas axle than u need the ends changed.

If you are using the RS2000 engine & box as well as RS back axle then you need to swap the prop also for an RS type as the original is too long for the gearbox & has the wrong size ends.

The RS2000 prop is available as both single piece & split prop

no mate the Capri box has a longer main shaft so will not fit you can either use a sierra 5 speed type 9 or the standard 4 speed you have but the gearing is a bit bad you should be able to pick up a gear box 5 speed quaife for about £650 you will need to get a alloy RS bell housing but like we said before it does involve moving the gear stick hole and mounting back so look for a 4 speed quiafe to make life a bit quicker and easier for you.

As far as 2.8 rear axle goes you will need to get a RS prop with atlas rear flange on it try WWRS they will have one in stock but it does mean more welding and also a set of arches as they are much wider than the axle you have now. Your best bet would be a atlas shaft conversion with a 4.4:1 diff with lsd and a 4 speed box it all depends on what the car is going to do?

I'm in Liverpool,it's £12 to post the prop - I thought the one that is in it has a smaller fornt end on it,therefore wont fit on the splines of the new gearbox?

No they are all the same splines just the rear flange where it bolts onto the axle is diffrent on an atlas rather than an english. If you have a 5 speed box the front flange just goes futher into the box than the 4 speed unit from my experiance.

2.8i atlas axle with a lsd unit is still not cheap make sure that there is an lsd unit in it as they did not come with all 2.8i's.

As for beaing easy nothing in modding a car is easy?

If you look on ebay there are a few peolpe selling preparing a Mk2 escort for motorsport this will give u a lot of needed info yes it is rather old but the princales are the same.

Glad u can use a mig as with any old car you are going to need it. LOL

Ah now that could be for a very ealry type 2 gear box with an intergral bellhousing it should have a type E box in it and that does have the same splins and size as the type 9 box.
