Default lotus twincam mk2

got the chance of a lotus twin cam engine etc from an eclat. (gearbox, axle etc too)
what would it take to slot this into my mk2 escort? is it any harder than slotting a pinto in? any help asap would be much appreciated.

no more hassle than a pinto mate...although at least it will weigh alot less than a pinto! lol
same block as the xflow 711 so straight forward to fit.

Cant say iv seen any mk2's with the lotus twincam right enough more at home in a mk1 I suppose....sell the mk2 and build a mk1 lotus twincam rep lol

You will need bulkhead mods for sure and rad needs to move forward as its quite long. I bought my mk1 with the lotus lump already in so i cant really tell you how hard it was.
Mine uses the W58 gearbox (Supra) and its a 2.2 907 engine 173bhp

hold up fella !if its from a eclat its not the twin cam you think it is the block will not be a 711 but a vauxhall unit fitted to the sunbeam lotus, good engine but a bit of a job to retrofit me thinks.

also not a lot of monies worth. dont take my word for all of this but i,am fairly sure.dont rule it out though,

Eclat, elite, esprit n/a, lotus sunbeam, excel.

These (among others) are all based on the '900 series' engine, also found in Jensen Healeys (2.0)
Early ones were 2.0, later ones are 2.2 and there is a high compresion 180bhp one in the excel SE (or is it SA?) 1985 onwards i think which is probably the best one to go for

Sorry mate, didnt notice your post!!!
Ive only had the car for a year and its spent most of its time doing nothing as it starting knocking, loudly!!

Once stripped it appeared that it was rebuilt without any valve stem seals At All!! and it had somehow flipped a shim out of the follower.

A mate of mine is soting it out (slowly) but the only person ive really had any dealings with is Mike at Lotusbits, very helpful and knowledgable bloke, known worldwide and a bit of a Lotus guru it seems from the lotus forums.

Other than that ive been trying to sort it without giving someone £££££s to rebuild the head.

How do you find the Sunbeam for reliability, power etc?
