Default 100E Struts...thoughts

Well, my first post here...

Am into my '59 100E (actualy a 101E LHD), decided to work on the from suspension and tore into the struts..
While they're not too bad for 50+yr olds, I started chasing down an idea about modification. I think I have found a modern strut cartridge that can be retrofitted to the original housing fairly easily, offering modern technology via a gas charged strut, with original looks.
Has anyone tried this or is anyone even interested in such nonsense?
The struts should show up today, US$70 for the pair, so this could be a very economically refurb. If there's iterest, I could post some pics.

Here my Anglia in tear down...
