Default SA MK5 cortina

Hello all

Greetings from a fellow ford-nut......I'm from cape town ...South africa

I drive this.....(not quite older tha 1980....its a 1982)

XR6 interceptor (came standard from factory as a 3.0 V6 with triple 42 webers on it...and some other bits and pieces)

only it now has this in it.......

Its also now a 3.8 (using the later 3.4 crank/rods/pistons....and upped the bore/stroke on that) 2 t3/4 turbos (T04E 57 trim compressors with .63 A/R turbines)...bit laggy ...but make sure its in a straight line when it winds up
Amongst other things are MSD ignition....1000cc injectors, 3 fuel pumps (1 lift to surge tank...2 main supply)...etc etc

Its currently been off the road for about 6 months...busy installing some 340mm discs and 8pot calipers

not many....owing to it looking like this now (theres a 1mm layer of dust on it)...been on blocks for the last 6 months (still start it up now and then)

mainly because i'[m busy fitting these....(the discs are in the mess above somewhere....i've also changed the rears to discs/sliding calipers)

the brakes REALLY are long overdue......car is insanely fast in a straight line...but doesnt stop so well....must just get the rotor hats made up then its ready for fitting

nah....too much fun as it is now (took me about 3 years to get it to where it is now).....

although...the way i built it ....to get it back to stock , all i have to do is take the turbo motor out, replace with original motor (with its triple webers)...take off intercooler and other bits)....and its good to go

I didnt want to cut holes into bonnet/front valence panel (for turbo and intercooler) for that specific reason....so just hung the intercooler under front bumper......that way...undo a few bolts, change engine...and its nearly original again

Steve

a shade under 500 i'm trying for closer to 600 when it starts up again (new 1200cc injectors.....2 new fuel pumps....and a couple other engine bits)....o and i have a NOS system too....but that hasnt been plumbed in yet.....so if i dont get 600 on the mods alone......i'll add the gas (i'm going to add the gas anyway )

since the body is basically pretty crap....engine has torn sections of the welding already (all the twisting and stuffs)....but its plenty fun

it also seems to have this habit of breaking things lately, which is most annoying since it does that just when you really get going (o, and it uses WAY too much fuel in the process)
