Default 2 pics of my mk2 escort project

Hello, here is a couple of pics of my MK2 Escort 1600 sport. i had a mk2 escort pop plus which i used for a while back in 2005 until the M.O.T (bent me thinks) ran out, i stripped it down and had it shot-blasted and there was nothing left of it so i did a part-ex on it against the car you see in the pics with a bloke who deals in old skool fords. this was all about a year and a half ago and the car came stripped down and needing lots of welding but not as much as the pop plus + parts. A chap local to me who only restores old Fords did all the welding and paintwork and im putting it back together! wish i could say i did it all and although i can weld and sort of paint i wanted it to be to a high standard so had to pay somebody else basically! thats the story in breif! i have loads of pics of the resto but these pics show how the car is now.

I'll put a spec up for anyone who wants to know/cares?? lol

No im not going to paint it. ive wanted an orange flatfront mk2 escort since i was about 16, im 23 now.

Brief spec is: ENGINE AND GEARBOX: Rebuilt standard 2.0 pinto bottom end with lightened and balanced flywheel, stage 2 head with piper cam and vernier pulley. Type 9 gearbox with Quiafe rose jointed quickshift, 1 peice prop, English axle with TRAN-X LSD.

INTERIOR: 6 point Safety Devices rollcage with door bars, corbeau Pro Series bucket seats, flocked steering cowling and dash top, OMP Corsica steering wheel(not 1 in pic!), carbon fibre doorcards and rear quarter cards.

BODYSHELL: New wings, splash panels, inner sills, outer sills, front floors, rear panel, rad crossmember and slam panel! also 5 linked and turreted at rear.

SUSPENSION & STEERING: Bilstein coilovers on the front, AVO coilovers at the rear, 2.4 turn quickrack and green track rod ends, polybushed at front.

Also got some 6X13 revolutions to go on but really want some 7's. still gotta get my front brakes aswell but will probably be wilwood 4 pots.

Finally got some more pics. Got my carbs and exhaust manifold on as the studs finally turned up. got the cambelt on aswell after i took the pics.

Not sure if i should fit a carpet or not? there is a couple of rough bits in there so they would obviously be covered up by the carpet but im fitting bucket seats and already have a cage in there. if i dont fit the carpet then im definately gonna have to get some more orange on the floor but i have 2 litres left so no probs there.

My mate should be fitting the 1600 sport graphics in the next couple of weeks also so i'll get more pics when that is done.

It looks like you have the wrong thermostat housing on your engine, possibly a sierra one?
The car looks very good.

DAVE COS4X4 Cheers mate, likewise with yours.

BRIGSPORT Yes mate, im 90% sure its a Capri one. the sierra one has another take off that runs to the header tank i believe.

No it doesn't, the sierra take off is in the top hose itself. The difference between sierra/capri and mk2 is the angle of the housing. The mk2 is less vertical. HTH.

Looks good, and I like your choice of colour (but not sure about painting the axle, and links, or the roll cage for that matter).

COOSIE DAZ. Cheers fella, will do. I'll be doing a bit more tomorrow as the weather is supposed to be good.

TIMGR I initially wanted the whole car orange including underneath with the axle black but thought about it a bit more and i cant justify jacking the car up to wash it nearly everytime i use it! The cage was gonna be black but i like it in orange against the black window surrounds.

Hi mate - Very nice Sport - you will need a pressure regulator, probably best with a filterking with a pressure gauge - if its webbers you will need 2-2.5psi on load

Doh - just looked closely at ur pic above only to find you have dellortos......cant remember the pressure setting off the top of my head but you will still need a pressure regulator.....a Facet Redtop pump for example runs 7PSI and will just flood your engine or overcome the floats and piss out the over flow....

again id recommend a filter king with a pressure gauge

For twin carbs, You will need a red top fuel pump to keep up with fuel feeding the carbs, You can buy a fuel pressure regulator with a gauge on it as well.
Nice clean solid looking car

FRAZA91 yeah that was ages ago. i stripped the red one down and the shell was a wanker (rotten!) so i kept all the good bits and some, spoiler, running gear, diff, fishnet recaro's ETC.. and got another rolling shell. I sold some of the old good bits to pay for the new shell and kept some bits for this one.
Who are you then? did you live next door to Sadie?

Haha, yeah i did tear it about a bit mate, mainly because it sounded so good!
I hope to have it finished around april/may, before the summer basically so i can get it to the shows and stuff.
Yeah im good mates with Ryan, i only live 2 roads away from him.

Keep saving mate, they're bloody expensive but it would good to get some more old school fords round here as there aint a lot. i dont mind helping out once mine is done as i know i'll be bored when ive finished it.
