Morning people!

Right I am in the process of taking apart my 1660cc X-Flow lump as it has a bit of an oil leak which I think I have now sorted. Having taken the head off it is totally standard so was looking at getting some work done on it or buying a new from the likes or Burton or Vulcan, which is better?!

Also while I am at it the cam is coming out as it is not as wacky as I would like, was told to go for a Kent 244 jobbie, is this anygood and will it work well with the head!?

Dan

have to be careful with a 244 aas you may need to modify your valve cutouts on your pistons. A 234 is adequate for road use and unless you get a well modded head there is no point IMHO. The 244 grind is really a rally cam.

From what i can tell the pistons have the right depth in them, 0.180" so it should be ok to run the 244, and the head is looking more likely to be the Vulcan Maxiflow 1a, which I think is about the same spec as a Burton Stage 3 jobbie!

The reason for the 244 is becasue I want a nice whack of power and for it to keep going up through the revs, and give you a nice kick when it comes on song at 3000rpm! Speaking to a few people in the know they say the 234 is ok but the 244 is better for that little bit more money and grin factor!!
