Does it have to be an RS Phil or can i answer?

Yes it has over the last few years slowed me down. I am a very sensible driver now and only put my foot down in what i beleive is a safe place to do so...

there is a huge difference in driving fast in a location where there is nothing around late at night , compared to driving like a twat along a normal road with pedestrians and other road users ... ..

but if you get caught i cant see the reasoning for telling the world hey i was a twat and got caught for racing / dangerous driving ...

there is a time and place for everything in this world ... with age normally comes wisdom ... and responsibility ...
sorry phil i drive within the speed limit's around 99.5% of the time on the public roads.. and cover around 40k per year i have seen too many accidents to actually want to become one...

Now and then I will speed in places I know I really shouldn't but generally I am good and don't do silly overtaking, driving too fast for the road etc generally.

If I ever ran somebody down and killed them I would be absolutely fookin mortified....

Well..
1) Honestly. Of course I speed.
2) Do I always do it where its as safe as it can be. Honestly, No.
3) How would I feel if I maimed or killed someone else on the road. Pretty shitty I would imagine
4) Does any of the above make me slow down. Honestly, No.

All I know is that I can't just drive along an open clear road (without speed cameras) at the speed limit. I find my concentration increasing, my speed rising and my braking later.

Maybe its a low boredom threshold, or some weird Andrenalin addiction. That I need to feel like Im doing something exciting all the time. I'm not saying its right. Or that its clever. And I would prefer others not to follow my example.

I suppose it will take a substantial off, to stop me.

I can honestly say that I do no more than about 120 every day I go to or from work. Not constantly but only for a few short bursts. I was lucky today though. I usually join the A120 to Chelmsford from Woodham at full pelt. Lucky enough today I carried on up the slip road instead of cutting across and was greeted by the site of the Five-0 in the outside lane.

I find that if I start to drive at the same speed as everyone else, I loose concentration and start to drift off.

I was unfortunate enough to witness the loss of a biker who hit a telegraph pole about a year or so ago. I go past it everyday and it always makes me aware of my mortality.

I have honestly never driven like a prick on public roads, not worth the aftermath if anything does go wrong.

I used to be a very confident driver, since my accident last month ive lost all confidence, im honestly not interested in driving anymore

Ive slowed down a hell of alot over the years, every close call ive had has gave me that bit more experiance,I do go nuts but its never around pedestrians.and if it does it does get a bit outta control rule 1 is dont hit anything ,Ive never thought about hitting a person only other cars and wall etc.so unless it happens(which I really hope doesnt)then I dont know how I would feel.

Theres a time and a place, early hours is normally the best time

I only drive my Cos to it's full extent when I know there are no possible risks to anyone but myself (or me and Sheady on the A404, and then when there are no other cars in the way). Have done in the past, since I've got the level of power I have now, I think very carefully before giving it a good boot full.

Never thought much about it as I personally dont drive yet, but in built up area's ive often told my mate to slow down, incase a kid pops out from behind a car, bad enough an adult but a kid can see visions and having that memory isnt worth thinking about!

My dads best friend was killed in a car accident
My cousin was killed in a bike accident
My best friend was killed in a car accident (he was on foot and got runover)

None of them were speed related, one was a vehicle failure, two were just bad drivers, but not speeding (or if they were then not by much), so im not sure that speed in isolation is quite the big problem its made out to be.

if you hit someone at 60 or 70,theyre still gonna die, speed doesnt kill in its own right, its the application ,as it IS possible to lose control within the speed limit if the conditios are wrong.
seen a few people dead unfortunately, one when the coach i was going to lemans in hit someone at a set of traffic lights (the pedestrian just walked out in front of the bus which was doing a MAX of 15-20mph so speed was immaterial!)she ended up underneath the rear wheels because she thought, like a lot of people in london or other big areas(in my experience!) that if she simply stepped out and didnt acknowledge the traffic she would be fine and traffic would stop, she was wrong.
i hope no one has to see someone die like i did in the gulf tho, thats NOT nice(or car related, and i dont really want to go into it)

always a time and a place.its not always you the driver that needs to be careful.its other nutters on the road.never know what crazy things the next person will do.iv had so many near misses due to people not looking around them.pulling out, slowing down fast for no reason.roads are a dangerous place.

if speed kills, every formula 1 driver would be dead, its the application of speed, regardless of how much speed is used

what a dilemma?? I thought initially that no I am a responsible driver which 99.9% of the time I am with my 6 points and all

then I started thinking about all the little moments i.e. 0.1% when in tragic circumstances it is quite possible I could of killed someone due to either excessive speed, lack of skill, mechanical failure or another road users lack of awareness etc.

Unfortunately I am a person who believes that accidents do unfortunately happen and shit does happen that we don't want, and it is not always imperative to go looking for a reason or someone to blame, so to summarise:

No, just keep out my f&*king way

quite right, blame culture is a real bugbear of mine, seriously pisses me off, accidents happen, its the way of the world. stop making kids wear goggles to play conkers etc....if you never get experience of falling over and having pain or realising things can hurt then one day you might step out in the road without looking because youve never had an accident and dont have a sense of fear and self preservation, everything always ends up smelling of roses
