I don't know if this is the right place to post this so move it if ya feel it should be somewhere else.

So, I went round to see my old man yesterday for a beer or three! and we got talkin about engines, i had, had quite a bit to drink by then so you will have to forgive me if this aint 100% correct.
He said that in the basement of my nans house there is an old ford cortina engine that used to be a 1.3, untill my grandad and him got hold of it. they have had it bored out to a 1.5L and a put a cross flow, port and pollished head on it, with some highlift valves and uprated cams. It also has a set of twin webber 45 carbs on it.
He said it used to be pushin out about 180+ bhp when it was last used , He had it as a motor on an old boat of his! lol

Anyway gettin to the point of my post. Does anyone know what car i could drop this engine in to? I'm sure my old man would give me a hand as he has just retired and had built more bikes, car, boat and helicopter engines than i think i have had hot meals. I was thinkin along the lines of a mini or something else fairly small. but i aint sure.

And help of advice would be much apreicated.

If it's a 1.3 x-flow or even pre x-flow (both the inlet and exhaust are on the same side) it should fit in any
mk1 or 2 Escort
Capris
Anglia 105e
Cortinas
As these all had these engines fitted as standard
The mk1 fiesta also had a 1.1 1.3 and 1.6(xr2) x-flows fitted to them but I know the 1.6 xr2 crank was machined slightly different because of it being fitted tranverse and the original crank would have hit the sump because of the exhaust running directly below the sump but i'm not sure about the 1.3 it might fit without any problems
