Default My new PC (DAMN ITS SO FAST!)

I bought this for 400 notes today off my mate who has moved to the states. It is absolutely mind blowingly fast. and the graphics are mint!

This is the spec i know about it so far

AMD 64 Bit athlon
3GM Ram
God knows what graphics but it has its own cooling fans and exhaust
Dual bios
Twin Sata HDD raid setup
My old IDE 160GB
DVD burner
USB 2.0 yadda yadda yadda

Here's some pics

I'm lost for words with it, it is simply 'wow' and for the money! I mean it was a total bargain!

I'll never EVER look back at any of my other PC's now.

Looks like a decent spec!

To find out what the graphics card is (assuming you're running Windows), go to Start, Run, then type in "dxdiag" without the quotes. When the window pops up, click on the "Display" tab, and you should find full details about it in there...

oooh, will give that a go. I been formatting the sata drives as i may be selling them. This raid business really isn't my bag So i'll try it once these two have finished. Just want to see how many bad sectors they have as my mate said there were problems with them.

My IDE is coping juuuuuuuust fine

Its an AMD Athlon 3000+ 2.01GHz CPU. I'm sure there's plenty of space for some clocking. But at the momment, its very stable and very fast, so there's no point

Ah here we go, Radeon 9700 Pro

Only 128MB, but it copes with silent hill 4 + wolfenstein ET perfectly.

The ultimate test would be Battlefield 2. Apparently that melts CPU's

Not sure how well a 9700 Pro would cope with Battlefield 2, but worth a try......if it's going to be used as a gaming machine, that'd be the first thing to upgrade.

Rest of the system is decent, for the price!

But yes, that CPU could probably do with some clocking once everything's installed and settled down! My Athlon XP2600+ currently runs at 2083MHz (about 2.035GHz)

Cool

I thought it had 256MB, but 128 will suffice for Wolfenstein

Like you said though, gonna let everything settle down. But really its for photoshop and premier

So the 3GB of RAM will come in handy, then, for editing and similar......should be pretty fast for that!

Yep. all up and running

Only using the IDE drive at the momment, partitioned 20GB for the OS and progs and 120 odd GB for storage

The Serial ATA drives are just sitting there, formatted one, checked for bad sectors, only a couple, so not bad at all. Thats 75GB each on those drives.

Tried to format the other one and its not having none of it for some reason Might try a low level format later.

Needs a tidy up though

There is one condition for the price though

I have to sell all his music studio equipment. No biggie, i'll have it all done and sent within the week

At least its a good base to upgrade on when the time comes. Not like my old Athlon 1GHz, wasn't really worth upgrading I do miss it though, i knew that PC in and out like the back of my hand.
