Mk1 Escorts...Concourse against Modified ????
What are your thoughts on the current and future values of Mk1 Escorts with regard to modified against completly concourse/standard examples??
In particular cars from the RS marque with regard to say
1. modded RS2 with race speced engine, lsd, st' cut box, cage, etc...
2. completely standard and as brand new (or better) RS2 in immaculate eat your dinner off the floor trim.
Also what kinds of actual money vaues do you see these cars being worth in the future and indeed what are they worth at present??
For the astute (spelling?) out there I may as well air my thoughts. I am pondering the possibility of selling my 500 and then know of two very nice Mk1 RS2's. One of which is a big wing modded but mint car and the other is bufty spit and polish RSOC gold cup winning car.
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on these cars and how do you see their future??

Any mk1 is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.
If someone is willing to buy a popular for Ł2000 so be it.
Look at the prices of RS1800s, a mate of mine has a genuine forest arched version that a few years ago was valued at Ł10000, now one with similar spec (The Irish one) is up for Ł20000! That is a 100% price increase in less than 5 years!
The prices of all RS models seem to be going up (with the exception of Sapphy Cosworths)
3 door Cossies now making Ł10k (Which a few years ago 500s were commanding with 3 drs making Ł6-7k)
RS500s now making Ł15k+ (A few years ago they were going for Ł10k)
Mk2 Escort RS1800s (Vary from Ł10k-20k whereas they used to be Ł9k-10k)
Mk2 RS2000s are now making upwards of Ł7k+ (You would've been lucky a few years ago if it made Ł5k for a minter)
Same as mk1 Mexicos are now making Ł6-7k+
Even absolute snotters of RS2000s & Mexicos are making close to Ł1500-2000 whereas a few years ago you could pick them up for anything from Ł500-1000
S1s are now making Ł6k+ for minters, you would've been laughed at a few years ago for asking that amount but now people are happy to pay it.
As for modified examples, it all depends on how well the mods have been carried out & how big the spec is.

I just hope thatthe Escort boom continues and more cars are saved from the big scrap yard in the sky. I also put the raisingprices to the fact that the 80's kids are now all grown up and want the cars they used to see the flash lads driving about in when they had Grifters and Chppers. Now we have money as a whole and are looking to fullfil the old dreams. Also folks that have the good cars are keeping tight hold unless a silly offer is made. It can all only be good for us old school boys!!

Prices are going up for mk1 & 2 Escys especially due to the growing popularity of post historic rallying now accepting both mk1 & 2s so a lot of the decent populars & things are going for silly money to be converted into group 4 cars
