Default Gutted!!! Bought a car I can't insure!!

I recently sold my 2wd cosworth which I had insured on a classic policy (I thought it was 12 years old or more, find out its 15. Should have checked )which I paid £450 up front for.

I then went out and bought a 4x4 91 car. Rang insurance to find out that it was not a case of changing details and paying the diffence but my £450 was non refundable and I would have to pay £1500 on top. I total it will cost me £2000!

If I return back to a 2wd then it will just be a case of chaging details and paying a small fee.

I'm gutted I'm going to have to sell new car!

What a stupid thing to do!

Anybody interested in a moonstone blue, 82000mile car with engine rebuild get in touch.

I will become a gold member and advertise on here.

Carole Nash insure 4x4 Saphs on a classic policy mate, if I was 25 it was only gonna cost me £500. Might be worth giving them a call to see if they can help you out of the situation.

Good luck.

I know how you feel I bought a car on a Saturday called my broker on Monday and when I got my first bill I found I was paying $540 a month to insure the car and my payment for the car was only $390.

Any chance of a list of insurers (good ones) with phone numbers as a FAQ or sticky?
