I have been searching for jobs and in a lot of advertisments they say "This is a wonderful opportunity to work for a blue chip organisation"

 

Usually a very big company, with a proven long-running background and stable financial situation.

From memory, it has origins in poker, since blue chips in poker are one of the more expensive ones...

 

They've a chain of petrol stations

 

type it into google,, tell you lots about bluechip companys

genrally it means they do well for themself

Blue chips are in fact THE most expensive chip.

In US casinos, the Blue Chip represents $10,000.

I have seen proper high rollers playing with mountains of them!

 

A Blue Chip company is publicly traded company known for the quality and wide acceptance of its products, services and management, and for its ability to profit and pay dividends to shareholders. EG...IBM and General Electric. The term actually originates from blue poker chips--the most valuable chips.
