How to open my Sapphire bootlid???
Can't open the boot, the key has never worked (bootlid been replaced in the past and I don't think the lock was changed), but the handle has always been ok, now the handle doesn't work!!
What can I do? Can't figure out how to get at the boot, first thing I thought is get in through the fold down seats, but they release from the boot and can't find any other way

Soory, meant to say USED TO until mine screwed up as well. I know when I had this issue on my Series 2, I ended up having to pay a locksmith to unlock the door for me which cost me Ł100 at the time.
Other than spraying the lubricant down the key hole and around the push button of the boot, the only other option would be to try and remove the rear speakers from the parcel tray.
If you can get the rear speakers out then you could reach your arm through the hole and pull the rear seat releases.
Bingo!

drill out lock starting with key sized drill and work way up untill guts are out ....then ram screwdriver into lock barrel and turn to open ...or push the lock mech in to release boot....i do these all the time ..hope this helps
1. Oil won't do any good as I think the lock is wrong anyway.
2. Don't want to drill it out if I don't have to right now.
3. Parcel shelf speakers, thought they screwed in from underneath??

My fuel cap got knackered and it operates off the same lever as the boot release near drivers seat. This cable runs along the floor if you take off the cover you can pull it further than you should and this might give you enough play to ping the bootlid open.
Hope this helps

The cable release in the boot is on a spring.
If you get some small nose pliers between the seat and the parcel shelf then you may be able to unhook it from the catch.
Alternatively you could try a small flathead screwdriver to jimmy the catch. Again between the seat and parcel shelf.
If you know someone with a saph then look to see how the catch works and where to lever it.
Once it's open then remove the 'D' catch on the back of the seat so you can still get access without it clipping back in.

i've smoothed my boot lock over. as a precaution i have disconnected te seat catch on the small rear seat just incase the cable doesn't work 1 day. not really gonna help ya much right now but maybe something to think about when you do get it sorted. good luck

Also have done the other way,as i couldn't open the doors because of a flat battery,so i had to climb in from the boot.
