Default question about narrow band afr guages............

yes there shit but.............

i understand that (or was told) narrow band 0.1-1volt sensors can only read roughly 14.0:1 (1.0v) and 15.4:1(.1v) hence useless for any on boost fuelling, So why do companies that make displays ie Lumenition have a led for lambda 1 AND a led for max power (12.7?) yet state a 0.1-1v sensor is what to use ??????

Some widbands use a different scale on the 0-1 output, i believe the innovate one does this, so that the narrow band gauge is instead over a wider range.

GarethT, that diagram REALLY shows what a narrow range they are over, didnt even realise it was only 2% either way myself, always thought it was more like 5%

Chip,
With an innovate you can very easily configure the analogue out puts to run a narrow band guage.

GarethT, that explains it then.

Either way though, still fucking useless for pretty much anything other than checking your ECU is going closed loop properly

Nope, wideband needs a clever controller to make it work. But if that controller has an output it could run a shonky display for you. lol

Narrowband equip is totally useless, end of discussion, topic locked.*

Danny, i guess its cause you COULD use it like that, IF you have a wideband already with the correct configurable output.

Plus of course just the fact that Ebay is full of a bunch of thieving bastards who lie about every fucking thing, if they can sell you a picture of an xbox for 400 quid with a clear conscience im sure blowing a few engines up wont worry them!

i guess what they mean is that if it's connected to a factory mapped car, they assume that by going rich under load or acceleration it will be going to that value

As you floor the throttle (WOT), you dont use the o2 sensor... its all done off the map!

i know that alex, i never said it was.

my point is, that the gauge manufacturer is assuming that the map will be to max power lambda so that they can say that if the lambda sensor gives a rich flip reading, that will be what it 'should' read. what's your point?

Stop trying to rationalise the bollocks on ebay with a sensible answer

What are you going to discuss next, the reasons that the "resistor mod" gains are ok to advertise as 15bhp?

Its ebay, its bollocks, end of
