Default 306TD peeps

Does the gearbox on the 306TD normall feel quitye stiff between changing gears? Now i cant remember how it felt like, i always knew the clutch was heavy but cant remember about the box Reson why im asking is mine feels this way, it been siting more or less for 4 1/2 months, the car drives fine etc just this that i want to make sure. As the car will be up for sale as soon as i get a new MOT and service done on it.

IMO they're much better than the petrol ones (like a prick in a bucket!).. Managed to brake 3 in as many months Not done a single one in my last 3 diesels

most people make the mistake of putting synthetic gear oil in the gearboxes...

drain the gearbox fluid out and put normal 10w 40 or 15w 40 engine oil in and it changing gear great

Rhys, mine's the same. Box feels nice and tight

I must say though mine don't like reving much, anything more than about 3.5K and it just chucks out! Like a smoke screen sometimes! I know it's a smokey old diesel but what causes it to do it so much etc? It doesn't seem to want to pull much more after this limit either....

Well, it's done about 80K from new so not tooo many miles! and was only owned by one previous owner who was a bit of an old git so don't think they hacked it about much! Don't get me wrong it still boost's well. But probably is the turbo ?

I just bought a nice turbo diesel 306 (xldt?) on a n reg 1 owner from new with full service history and only 50,000 miles all the old smokers with 100,000 plus were about £1500-£2000 and the old boy sold me this one for £1200

I want to have the little boost increase too

Whils't we are talking 306's....anyone notice how shite the headlights are on these cars? Mine had quads fitted by the old dear as they were not happy with driving at night, I ditched them (or rather flogged them on the bay ) as they looked shite and put the standard lights back in but I must admit they are not great and I end up putting the front fogs on

Is this is common thing or is it just me?

if the pedal is stiff the 306's has a common probelm with clutch cables seizing up

Didn't think so. Mine seem to just be far too low and most of the dipped beam is pointing too low down. I have the lights on the highest setting too. Maybe I just need them adjusting some how

What did you do to get it up to that much bhp?? Thats almost standard ERST power, and the same torque as a well modded ERST.
