very rarely is it that the actual rocker cover needs replacing, usually just the gasket needs doing.

what car??

i have never known a whole rocker cover need replacing on such a 'run of the mill' car as a corsa

the gasket would cost the garage less than a tenner, and there probably charging an hours labour.

put a WANTED HELP ad on here, get someone around to have a butchers and replace it for peanuts.

i'd do it myself if i was closer, it's only a half hour job

they said it needed replacing... i dunno... i didnt ask i said id speak to my dad and get back to them....

fair enough i dont know loads about cars so i could be paying over the odds for unnecessary work... thats why i was wondering if it could be that that was the whole problem? and if it was if that was a fair price?

they said £40 labour and £15 for the cover then VAT...

£40 labour seems a bit excessive. should take 15 minutes max

Does seem expensive to me..

Garage has to make money, but not take the piss..

I wouldnt pay anymore than £25 including new gasket..

If they want more than that bring it to me and ill sort it for free labour! Just pay for the part.

thanks guys

just wondered.. is it worth me ringing round a few garages for a quote...

also... a few people have mentioned a new gasket... is there a chance that this will need replacing too then? should i ask them to just do it anyway and see if it can be included in the price or just leave it?

thank u!

The gasket will need changing no matter what!

It is worth getting a few quotes so you know where you stand.

You might find that some garages charge a minimum of an hour's labour, hence the price.

unles you've broken the cover, then it's just the gasket that needs doing

off the top of my head, the only thing that comes with a gasket stuck to the cover is the 24V cossie engine, and they are apparently £300 notes a side

unless it's the same for the corsa?

which engine is it?
