Default oil light

i was sitting 2 nite for about 5 mins and the oil light started 2 flash but once i started 2 drive again it was fine

but once i stopped and was just sitting there it started 2 flash again

can anyone put some light on this for me

could be dodgy oil pressure or oil pump on its way out

i have a oil pressure gage and it used 2 sit at 20psi when i was sitting about but now im lucky if it sits at 10psi

i had 1 come on once turned out to be the pressure switch but if the pressure on ya gauge has droped would change ya pump b4 it fooks the full engine

any motor factors could order ya 1 but i alway use gen ford pumps look in fast ford mag et plenty dealers in there woodford garage motorsport do a gen ford oil pump for£104

ok i have checked all wires and there all on

also checked the oil and there is just over max on there

so i really dont know what is wrong with it

would it make any differants if the car was sitting on a bit off a hill and was sitting running on idle with most off the oil sitting at the front off the engine

This is what mine was doing, it now needs a rebuild,thought was a dodgy oil pressure switch obviously wasnt.

just change oil pump mate easy job bottom pulley of sump of you can et straight at it u mite lucky and get away with just changing it DONT USE THE CAR ANYMORE

should i do a zvh or zetec turbo converion as im having so much trouble with the engien and car or leave it and jus tkeep sorting every little bit that goes wrong

i just built a zvh and they cost a fortune if i was u and ya happy with ya current spec engine keep it every 1 has teething probs with em mate there old cars now dont let it get to u get a new pump and go from there

cool i will just keep on going with the car and see where i end up but i mite just get it running and sell it as i also think the guy that sold me it knew all this was going 2 happen and wanted rid off it asap

bit of advice the max line is there because thats the maximum you can fill it too,it doesn't have to be on the max all the time,you usualy find theres a litre between min and max,goin over the max does not make it run any better and can do damage to an engine,get a proper oil gauge on there and check that its makin the right pressure at cold start up,warm and 2k revs
other than that its take oil pump out and check for wear,i ate 2 oil pumps coz i put a powder coated rocker on my car and it was still all swarf on the inside,which was bein flushed round my oil pump,after 2 oil pumps ate it was then a full bottom end rebuild as it eventually wore the bores,so a bit costly for a nice rocker cover

its just over the max as the car is on a hill as i cant get it in the driveway but its ok i mite have the car sold the way it is if not then i will sort the pump and oile change and see how that goes
