Default FAO CHIP/Rod - Nitrous

Chip/Rod I know u know a lot about nos and have a lot of experience with it. Isnt it you who is always saying quite often you end up with more of a power gain with a decent kit than the jet size e.g. 25bhp jets, u might get 30 bhp gain.

having a discussion and ppl saying u always end up with no where near the power the jet size is e.g 100bhp jets giving 20 bhp.

your input greatly appreciated

ask then where they got this info and you'll end up with "my mate dave down the pub"

25 jets dont mean 25bhp jets, its a measurement of some sort 0.02mm or somehitng like that. its just conincidence that they normall give approximately 25bhp increase.

you can get about HALF of that power on a shit car
you can get about DOUBLE that ona good car

but normally its around about what you use.

ps its the FUEL jet size that determins the extra HP not the nitrous jet. so they might be running 100n 25f

Hi

Many factors involved, the kits as supplied are set very rich for safety reasons to stop the ' boy racer brigade blowing up their engines.

Jet Horsepower is @ 870psi higher pressure will produce more Power. Pressure drops after a few seconds on the throttle so keeping Big Power on a Topspeed run requires a Hydrogen push system like mine to keep pressure at 1000psi all the time. Smaller systems are single Fogger which is a bit hit & miss. Big Power will require direct port for more accurate spraying of the Nitrous.
If you are going for Max Power from a system the Nitrous will require to be mapped & Controlled by your ecu, mines done before each run.

We checked on a R-R & were getting 90% of jet Power but we didnt check at what pressure so of very little use.

Chip is the real expert on here im just good at picking his brains. Have run Nitrous for over 3 years with no probs so if fitted correctly it dont destroy your engine.
Cheers Rod

I'm sure I've read that it makes a bit more on turbo cars because it cools the intake charge.

have heard this quite a few times also...

turbo cars the nitrous can do better than the theoretical figures and on NA cars often they do worse...

wizards of nos website had a good lot of info about this IIRC

Depends on the make of kit, most of the yank stuff seems to underperform quite badly on european engines from what ive seen but ive only got limited experience of that.

Quoted figures by all manufacturers are targets for at the wheels though.

Even on N/A cars ive never yet seen one fail to beat the jetted amount if you measure at the flywheel, but then again it depends on who installs it and sets it up, ive seen people getting 20bhp or less from 100bhp jets cause they havent got a clue what they are doing!

But general rule of thumb, you will make more than the quoted amount on a correctly installed wizards of nos kit.

With regards to single or direct port etc, it starts getting complicated, jet location is absolutely critical to making good power, and often direct port can acutally harm this as it increases reversion.

Trying to explain utterly everythign to do with nitrous all in one post would be like "tell me about turbos" and expect to get absolutely everything covered, its just not going to happen, but if you have any other specific questiuons im happy to answer them

Hydrogen? surely you mean Nitrogen? Hydrogen at that pressure is rather dangerous isn't it?
