Default program to record music to the PC?

Anyone know of any programs that would allow me to record from my mixer to my PC via the MIC socket?

Got all the cables sorted, just need a program now, preferably something with gain and equalizer controls

I use steinberg wavelab, can clean-up and e-q and normalize the recording

oh, and why are you going through mic and not line-in?

yeah, line in. Mic is a different input.

I use Soundforge. similar to wavelab.

don't think the missus laptop has got a line in, all its got on the back is a headphone socket and the mic socket...

cheers for the prgrams people, I'll see what ones the best for what I want
