Default Newbie - Few Issues

Hi All,

Just Picked Up A MK5 Escort With A Series II Rs Turbo Lump, And Have A Few Questions.

1)Someone Has Fitted A Bleed Valve And The Boost Guage Spins Round To About 2.0 Bar When Accelerating. (The Engines Standard By The Way)

2)Is It Common For The CVH Turbo Engine To Keep Spitting Spark Plugs Out? No.3 Keeps Coming Out For Some Reason. Threads Good In The Head And Tightened The Plugs To The Correct Torque.

3)Another One Of Its Party Tricks Is Blowing Its Oil Cap Off Common ?

Cheers

Steve

Dont sound like a good engine at all And will probably need a rebuild

Running to much boost for the engine...Also im guessing that it has a standard intercooler aswell

As for the reasons...

1, The bleed valve is more than likely open all the way , so the engine is running to much boost ( like you say )

2, can only think this is a compression problem

3, Could be a number of reasons... Oil breathing / water not circulating

Not to sure to be honset.. but either way, its not looking god...

fuckin ell, ~30psi std engine? pmsl bye bye (bet it shifts!! altho i reckon gauge must be dodgy, isnt a TIM is it?)
sounds to me your lucky its throwing the sparkplug out rather than a rod if its accurate!!

but theres something cronically wrong with it mate, needs looking at and as rad says reckon the engine is fubared

2bar will blow your engine, turn the bleed vale right the way in.

are they correct plugs? sounds too small?

heavy breathing - blocked breather/fucked piston rings

Least I Can Start Afresh Now, Have Searched The Forums, Cant Really Find A Spec Above Standard That Will Maintain Reliability.

I'm Not Looking For Mega Power, Just A Bit Over Standard Really.

Anyone Care To Throw Some Suggestions Into The Mix ?

180bhp is a piece of piss on a good engine and should suffer no reliability issues over normal.

Sorry to hear it went pop

i was gonna say is the amal valve connected? people sometimes tend to unplug it wen theyve fitted a bleed valve which surely means the cars boost is all over the shop
