Default Water leak - HELP!!

Right I have a water leak somewhere in the engine bay but for the life of me I cant find where its coming from. Its dripping down from the gearbox cradel but as there are no water pipes above this area it must be running down from else where..

Anyone else had water dripping from this area??

Its got me stumped!

Dan

Yes mate I had this on mine and it turned out to be the small hose to the thermostat housing that had split and was spraying water.

Run the car and wiggle all the water pipes and you'll probably get a nice hot jet of water in the face like I did

I had a similar problem for ages and ages on mine....a little bit of water would trickle out from the hole in the gearbox cradle.....

turned out it was a corroded core plug in the block [there is one thats inside the gearbox bell housing ]

So its gearbox/clutch/flywheel off to change

Check everything else first!!

Was going to mention core plug, very annoying they are, had one go on my old MK5 escort, it must have had a hairline crack because it would only leak a small amount but you could see where it had run down the block!

If you have the box off then do it just incase, they are only cheap and easy to fit

They usually corrode from the inside out due to lack of anti-freeze
