Default DIY hell..AGAIN its flaming good this one!!!!!

..i am gonna say this as it is a good advert for always use a pro if you are a bit silly EVERYTHING on my car is DIY as i enjoy it but i aint no mechanic!!!!

Picture the scene thursday night...and i have the leads with cap on resting on the cross member and only the front part of inlet on,no injectors, rail still there and connected....all off as i had to get to the oil pressure sender.....so i decide after fitting new oil set up to see which wire was the oil light....so i went into car and turned ignition on...now your thinkin fooking hell coil live and fuel gonna pump thru ......NO because i have a switch to seperately put pump on...BUT i heard a noise which i thought was the pump ..so flicked the switch with ignition ON i then heard one of the scarest noises....petrol igniting...turns out the noise was the ABS pump DOH ...so i look up and BIG fire ignition off into the kitchen shouting FIRE!!!!!!.....Lots of water and out it went after about 30 seconds...Jesus was that scary.......i honestly thought my name must be Jim

I am gonna die doin DIY ROFL

Givus a job i can do that

...its insured for lots...especially seeing as i am the worker on it

The damage was a melted dizzy cap a bit of vacuum pipe and 2 injector plugs only!!!!

All i can say is thank fuck for insulating tape as that stopped the rest of the wiring melting!

Glad you & the car are okay though, you muppet .

Stu fortunatly that didnt result in a fire as i garantee i would be a dead man typing!

...another good one was my mate welding a plate on the rear of my Saff whilst we both had some weed ....he went thry a petrol pipe and it was flaming well...we looked at each other and i said i really dont want to loose the fence next to the car....so he got a damp cloth and put the fire out..apparently we was according to him 10 seconds away from loosing the car

tbh the worst thing ive done was last night, i broke a socket hammering the extention bar and hammerd the missus hand , i broke a bone above her thumb , shes such a star she didnt even complain and STILL held the rope

after i lost my paitence and gave up she mentioned shes in pain and we went to A&E

no fires though,,, but i think that would be classed as minor tbh

Not quite in your league, but i'll tell n e way LOL

I was changing the battery on my bro's 306 last night (on a badly lit driveway ), put the new battery in, started the car up to check it was working (which it was now ) , then thought o yeah best do the clamp back up, had a extension bar to reach down to the clamp on the left, and the ratchet in my had doing it up

Somehow i ended up with the ratchet in my hand, and shorting across the 2 battery terminals, with the engine running , few sparks later and a new pair of pants all is fine

But luckly it melted the hose shut so the tank did'nt go up

lol, battery one i do every week

did it spectacularly on monday though, tightening a fuse up with a 19mm ratchet spanner, slipped and touched the ring on the terminal and the spanner hit the chassis of a brand new truck

welder anyone?

24V through my spanner has left it looking a little worse for wear
