I dont think you can do this as your chassis number has been registered as xr3i already, could be wrong though. As for police they wont be bothered about if its had a turbo conversion or not, just make sure the car is insured as an xr3i and listed mods as a turbo conversion.

Just because your XR3i has had a turbo fitted to it, that doesn't make it an RS. You haven't a cat in hells chance of getting the log book changed.

What you have is just a modified XR3i.

Insurance shouldn`t be a problem providing you get an independent engineers report to show the conversion is done to a suitable standard,if you do this i can`t see it being much more than a std Rs Turbo....

When I put a 1600CVH (2i) lump in my 1.1 Fiesta they just charged me the same as the car the engine came from! This was a couple of years ago with Liverpool Victoria!

the wrong car name is NOT on the logbook the CORRECT one is.
the car left the factory as an xr3i and so will be one until the day it dies regardless of what running gear it has.
can you imagine how many RS500's they would be if the owner could just change the name on the log book of there 3dr cossie

its not the potential buyers that are scared off by having the wrong name, its just worth more money as a turbo

it isnt though........it will always be an xr3i and anyone that wants to buy it that knows anything will apreciate this.

as long as the car is always insured properly, the fact that its an xr3i has no bearing at all

rant over

I have known of logbooks to be changed before, a guy local to us built a nova pickup took it to the main M.O.T. testing station in our area it went through a similar sort of test to the sva test and he got it re-registered on the origional plate year of manufacture etc but the logbook now states the vehicle was a "nova pickup" and not a "nova L" as it was previously, so imo i cant see why this wouldnt work from an xr3i to an rs turbo, it does show up on hpi reports etc tho.

It wont work, as it isn't an RS Turbo.

You can get logbook changes for colour and occassionaly mistakes are made re: trim spec etc, but you wont get them to change the logbook to read that the car is something it isn't.

When I built a kitcar, the local cops had to come and inspect it, then I was allowed to keep the reg number for the Cortina and the log book came back as an Eagle RV.

Nowadays, you have to go through the SVA test and maybe when you modify a car into a one-off the description can be changed, but I don't think they will allow you to change it to another "real" model.

Even if you did change it, and im 99.99999999999999999999% sure you can't, it would still be the wrong VIN number for an RS turbo anyways...

Bob hope and no hope. It will never be a gemuine RS Turbo and trying to change the log book to say it is would be fraudulent on your part. It is an XR3i which has a turbo engine even if it had all the RST bit's it would still be an XR3i as that's how it left the factory.

Changing a Nova from an L to a pickup is a bit different as it has actually changed the body type.

You can get the log book changed for colour swap, Engine capacity and type but that is about it. As has been said even if you could change the logbook to say RST the VIN numbers would still identify it as an XR3i which would be even more off putting to potential buyers.

Nope! If it ISNT an RS turbo, it will never be one even if everything but the shell is genuine RS!

If you pour bisto chicken gravy granules on your Beef sirloin does it become chicken? Even if there was 75% more gravy than meat!

it can not be done or im gonna register my fiat uni as a ferrari

hell id register my cossie as a fiat panda just to lower the insurance

a xr3i is what it is as subtle changes to the spec make it a rsturbo, roll bar for one of em, theres others too ( like rot under the body kit )

if you did re register it as a rs turbo then the person who buys it is being ripped off, how would you like buying a ferrari to find its a MR2 with fibreglass

leave the ringing of cars to the pro's

guzzler you must have been lucky about the cabrio as there actually a insurance group HIGHER than the ERST
