Where is the cold starter valve as you looking into the engine bay.

its at the back of the plenum chamber,in the middle, and has a blue plug on it

Explain a bit more.

 

as you look at the engine you wil see a large alloy inlet manifold,this manifold then splits into 4 tubes that go into the engine! with me so far?

in the middle of the 4 tubes sits the cold start valve,it has a blue plug on it,and is bolted upward into the manifold,it has a red fuel line on it also.

is better to look over the top of the plenum.

 

ok i have a look later when i manage to get the bonnet open should it be connected or not. i heard some people disconnect them for some reason.
What do they actually do what the reason for them.

What do you think.

disconnecting it can aid with cold starting! but if it starts fine with it connected then leave it connected!

 

What the actually point for i tho. on my Rs it i leave her in the garage a few days she always starts but takes a few tick overs 6 or 8 tick overs. what you recon disconnect it. will it muck up proformance of the car. to be honest at the moment not sure if it connected or not..

it provides a little extra fuel at cold start. mine has been disconnected for 5yrs and it starts EVERY time first time. it does not effect performance.

 

If mine connected which prolly is. i am gonna disconnect it and see how i get on. on cold starts it does take a while to get it started but always starts. i am gonna try get the bonnet open then disconnect it and try give it a go. what you think

Well i just disconected the cold starter valve its not made any difference in proformance or anythink. it was connected when i got to it but for the time being ive disconnected. (The Blue plug)Near red petrol line.


Whats everyone honest opionion about the cold starter valve leave connected or disconnect.

they can cause problems, i had a car that started perfectly once it was unplugged.

My current car it doesnt really make any difference, just play about with it, you cant damage anything, and the cold start valve only works while you are cranking anyway, as soon as you release the key it turns off.

 

If ya car dont start very well then disconnect it but if it starts ok then leave it on! if it hasnt made any difference by takin it off then put it back on it dont really matter

Not as such. iirc it's all built into the chip and operates from signals from the engine temp sensor on the back of the head
