Guess i should have been more specific!

A mates got some 40-mm lowering springs on her escort gti and i had a go in it earlier and it drives mint, not harsh but firmer and corners with hardly any body roll

I just wondered if anyone else recommends them?

I run AVO springs with Bilstein shocks (ok they are on my astra ) and the car handles very very well, a lot better than the spax setup I had before

spax are shite i was on a mountain road in scotland hit a section of twisties on trensfering weight sharpish from left to right the near side gave in and pissed all its juice out sending me into a gravel trap at 70
Whoops! Thats not good!! The back end always felt a bit un-predictable to me and it came out more than it should, but with the AVO/Bilstein setup I am VERY impressed

you could buy Brand new tarmac spec racing coilovers of Scotty @A1 for about Ł500 for the pair that will include Grp A top monts, Grp a inserts /in new Grp n boddies to fit standard hub either 2wd or 4wd / with collars/ rating about 450/220 or .. 400/150 springs you would have to buy yourself they are cheap anyway

don't get these confussed with the normal Bilstien like Rudey has put up these are in a different league,Sorry Rudey

all you would have to do is get some rose joited magesuim rear coilovers

Tarmac / or gravel

jobs a good un... they can varey from about Ł150 to about Ł400 depending on condtion and even if you bought a knackerd pair you could still get them re-valved from Bilstein themselfs cheap enough

I don't think you can buy these mags new anymore to be honest

all you here from you lot "bloody bilsteins are too hard " theres that many ratings it's unbeliveable

you could have these allround on your motor for about Ł800 now hwo can that be dear for quality suspension suspension brakes is everything on a car not just a fast engine

cheers marco

I took marco's advice and bought mag Bilsteins.

Awesome Shocks

Dont rate AVO's at all, noisey, clunking, leak and seize.

I have done ~100km's so far. Still playinbg with settings but they seam to be quite nice suspention. Altough I would probably prefer slightly different valving for conditions here, but in Uk it schould be fine

Ryan

all the others leak , bend ,snap been there won't even go back to any off them

and you know what i found the worse of the bunch was fooking leda they leaked every time the car had a bit of abuse they were sent back at leda more times than they were on the car

I have had my Billys on the car for ages + (1yr of rd) and they are still perfect

I tryed loads of tarmac spec coilovers with different ratings untill i was happy

I tryed the mag tarmac rears 350/150 but these were aewsome on track but too hard for the Rd

so i went for the gravel rears insted all my coilovers have very long springs with helper springs

Fronts have 12"springs , rears have 16" springs the longer the spring is better for rd use but not so much for track use but my car is more on the rd than track so you have to draw the line somewhere ]

cheers marco

I would only change my bilsteins for something like Ohils/proflex/reiger/

which have the remote resiviors to change damping

forget the rest fit the best "ever rest "

Why do you think 800 quid a corner competiion AVO's cannot work?

What a funny thread title.... I have just spent 6 minutes looking for ratemyavos.com

What always amazes me is people who rave on about stuff like this have generally just taken the first step up the ladder and come from either standard suspension or slightly tweeked uprated such as Koni/Spax etc, of course they are going to be better thats obvious.

imaloverofcars If your in that bracket above then they will be fine.

I couldn't tell you about the racing version of AVO but

i know the rd version coilovers AVO's aren't in the same league as the Bilstein

when you talk to the reps about their product they always say "yes these are the real bizz" so you buy them and then try them and when you find out that they are leaking premiture thay are happy to re do them

I use to use the Grp 4 Bilstein on my Mk2 escort never ever had a problem with them

when i bought the cossie i tryed the Leda's they was shite so i went back to what was tyred and tested
you can't beat word of mouth with stuff that has been tryed and tested simple as that

i wouldn't be a guine pig for any product unless it was tryed and tested i did with the leda never again

Marco
