Default erm ... might need some help ...

ok .. got the following ..
asus p5p800
80gig sata h/d
1 gig memory

but .. someone said i might have trouble loading xp as i need to load a raid driver ???? erm ..

also how the hell do you decide what cpu to use .. as this mobo has a few issues with certain intel p4's...
i need to know what bios i have to decide on what chip i can use ... but i got no idea .. cant get a p4 cheaply enough to just try it ... but i can do a bios update but need to get the system running first .. bloody catch 21 then

any ideas???

Pete,

At the start of installing XP it say's press F6 if you want to install a third party raid / scsi adaptor

As for the board, go for a cpu that doesn't have issues for a start then run a bios update if you want.

Search the net / forums for conflicts with that board and cpu

Again, option B) Bring it to Kent

just was told its a good mobo ...
was lookin at a 530j p4 but that has issues with some bios

ok its a rev 1.01


do i need to have a seperate disc for these drivers dan ??? or will it be on xp ??

You will need to have seperate drivers to install it if it's the one you are planning on putting XP on it

ok .. well tried it all last night .. no cup tho .. and the fooker dont start the psu ??? now all the other ones i have built start the psu going ... fooked off now .. might just get a decent mobo ..

any ideas dan???

is there any problems with mixing sata and eide ???

no problems mixing sata with ide
get the drivers off your mobo cd and put them on a floppy

your psu should start like normal(check the power switch )

What do you mean the PSU's not going ? As in, there's no power to it ???

Check the motherboard's not earthing out somewhere.

found the problem with the power fookin knobs had put the wireing in wrong in the case .. on / off switch was connected to the reset wires
