Default popping flames

Got a flamer kit, filled up on tesco's super unleaded 99 and its been popping flames all over the place! Just wondered how you can make it flame just by reving? Done it once, just wondered if there was a certain way other than just reving it up hard? Seen an RS run a constant flame once just by keeping the revs @ 2k???

Best results is to get the car warm first, once its warm, you can rev away.

They should not hold flames, unless your running far to rich.

go cossie management and run light blues like mine lol gets lots of fuel going through and really good flames!! you cant really have constant flames, when engine is warm just rev on spot then let off accelerator and you get them, like mine in the pic

when you rev hard then let the revs come down to idle thats when the air gets sucked back up the tail pipe makeing a combustion mix = flames (correct me if im wrong)
so if you ad some sort of air suply into the tail pipe(like compressed air) you should get a flame at high revs also

25psi on mine with a5th injector. Once warm it flames like a bitch. Completely pointles the flamer kit but it still makes me grin like I'm 10 again

Ditto Got a 5th injector on mine aswell. How do you pop flames by reving? Just blip the throttle or really rev it up

i was undr the impression that you were supposed to have a swith on the flamer,
when you flick the swith the feed to the coil is cut and thus floods the engine, the spark in the tail pipe then lights the flames.

also if you driving along and put your foot down, if you turn the ignition of as you come on boost youl get a massive back fire and big flames (you dont actually need a flammer to do it this way)

i want a proper flamer now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The flamer kit I have (as fitted by SCC) has a sparkplug in the tail pipe and a coil. It relies on the natural unburnt fuel present upon lifting of the accelerator not cutting power to the normal running coil. Turning the ignition off as you come onto boost is a sure fire way to fuck something (probably expensive) pretty quickly.

i have to give it some boost down the road then push clutch in and let the revs come all the way down to get a good flame
i cant get it to flame very often just reving
turning off the ignition turns off the fuel pump also, so you need a switch just on the coil

You don't wanna be doing it like that m8!
I can drive with my flamer switched on, all it does is starts the sparkplug in the exhaust working like Oranoco's.
Got a couple of huge ones last night as I hit the limiter in 2nd!

It's also where in the rev range and how you control the boost to how well it actually flames

I think I've mastered it now

isnt the ignition cut at 6200rpm and the feul at 6500rpm
this is the reason you get big flames as you hit the limiter.....

I had one when it cuts the coil and it worked fine. Never would do it on boost though!

if you look in the technical information for an rs turbo (haynes manual or even the hand book) it states that the car has a two stage rev limiter with either the fuel or ignition (cant remember whether its the fuel or ignition which is cut first) being cut at 6200rpm and the second one of the two being cut at 6500rpm.

if it was the ignition which is cut first, the engine wouldnt be burning any fuel between 6200rpm and 6500rpm hence all the fuel goes into the exhaust and you get big flames.

Mine flames at it's best once in 3rd or higher. Bring it up onto boost and lift off. Flames. Got a short clip on my PC of mine flaming when I first got the kit but don't know how to post it
