Default FITTED THE R+D SIX SPEED BOX

Just want to say another BIG BIG thanks to Nick k for fitting my gear box today. To quality work as always.
The car is transformed once again from mew turbo last week and new box this week.
Just needs a visit to GGR for a live map session and my car will be on top form.
Also BIG thanks to Lee at fusion for the use of his ramp today.
Saved nick doing it on his back on my drive way.

What a difference huh?!?!?!

Awesome bit of kit. We spend far tooo much on engines in my opinion. Transmission is soooo crucial. A decent 330bhp car and that box make an awesome track car.

Give it loads of power and you get the kind of figures Martin produced.

Good luck with it and enjoy

I've done loads of miles in Martins and Bruces with these boxes. They are VERY different! If you like your cars refined and comfortable FORGET IT!!

If you like making every trip to the shops feel like a full on Rally stage, then this is the box for you!

Porkie,

at last someone who realises

If you like making every trip to the shops feel like a full on Rally stage, then this is the box for you!

pukka transmission makes the car imo , been using proper boxes for more years than i care to remember (and diffs etc )

i do remember the 1st time someone told me what they had spent on a gearbox tho - thought - foookin ell you must be mad just for a gearbox

ive actually got more money in transmission in my car than i have in the engine

Jon(m600),

it will be a totally diff car m8 !! correct me if im wrong please

much better power delivery , much better gear changes ,

for a little advice tho m8 , tbh , if your going to use the car alot , then life the box , it makes more sence in the long run , say take it out once a year and send it to R+D for a strip and rebuild , that way they can replace worn parts rather than the whole fookin box when somat lets go , i would prob say approx every 5000 miles , the dog rings and dog gears wear away in time , so its better to spend Ł300-500 a year than 5K if you know what i mean !!

hth

Anyone put a tiptroninc box in an Escos yet (other than rally cars I mean)? Cos I would have thought a pukker tiptroninc box in a seriously specced car would be great for tracks and sprints alike - a good one can change up quicker than a human

And Stu won't?

Why do you need to do 180 on the motorway anyway?

Must be completely mad to let GGR map your car, good luck your gonna need it!!

If you really value that engine then get Stu, Karl or Ahmed to map it.....

And dog boxes are sweet, got some good memories of driving Bruces car. Only thing that made me poo my pants was how close the gears were together, so much so that I would slow down a little before attempting to go up a gear as I could not afford to buy Bruce a new engine!!LOL

Tiptronic is a SHONKY Automatic gearbox with manual electronic overide controls that Porsche use. Thankfully they are ditching it very soon.

I think you mean a Sequential box with hand controls linked to an airshifter. One is being stuck in a Cossie right now actually. Give it 2 months

As Jon said tho, they well experienced on Jons setup, and you cant argue with all that experience with touring cars etc, had a long chat with one of em at Stanford Hall, came across really well, jus maybe abit shy bout winding the boost up tho! Plus price is very reasonable.

GGR previously mapped M600 and it still goes, hasent melted down and runs pretty well.
May be they restrict things a little more than others but in my opinion thats a good thing rather it be a little slower than blow up!

Why do people alwas slag other people you never know what you get until you try them out. A friend of mine recently had his car mapped ( not going to mention any names) by a well respected company and was not impressed at what he got.

P.S Mr manchester it was me

Jon no probs ,

nick ello mate , pete u should be in bed , andy befor u ask yes it was me with the cup of coffe

as for mapping issues , i have used 3 different people in as many years , 1 was very avaeage at best and the other 2 were spot on ,

each to their own i spose and youll never realy know untill you have tryed them all ,

Next years car is goin on MBE and a 4th mapper / firm will be used . bring this post back up in 15 years and i will be able to give you my personal favorite , but i doubt my views will be the same as everyone elses .
