Power steering on a mk4
Has anyone converted a mk4 escort to have power steering.
Was thinking of doing this mod to mine but not sure what is involved.
I know that some early mk5 escorts had a cvh under the bonnet with power steering , but not sure what steering rack to use. Anyone got any ideas or done the same coversion?

I sold the last of my bits on ebay a couple months back but,-
Get on the net to one of the breakers in the States, the escort from
82 onwards had pas and from 85 onwards a/c as well. Up until 89
the motor is exactly the same as yours so all you need are the
brackets, pumps, pulleys(compressor and evaporator if you want the a/c as well) and just use a later escort/orion rack from a scrappy over here.
If you know your arse from your elbow the job (minus the A/C)
is fairly straight forward and means that torque steer is minimal.
Once you've tracked it all down talk to the guy below
who'll help you get it all over very easily. Good luck
Dear John,

what exactly?
The later rack bolts to a crossmember which the ERST doesnot have.
