Gearbox question?

Has anybody ever changed one of these?
Been told that the gearbox has to be stripped to do it is this true if so anybody know anyone in the Manchester area that will do it for a good price the box is out of the car and on the kitchen floor
Please help

Just swapping one for the other. Basiclly come to put a clutch in and found that there was oil in the bell housing and not much oil in the box which i presume is causing the clutch to slip so just need to swap the seal. Been gettin some silly qoutes to do it so thought i might have a go myself

So your changiing an oil seal in the gearbox and not the gearbox.... why didn'y you say so
Rip it to bits and have a look, a spare box can be got for peanuts if it fails or you give up. Good learning curve

Right decided to have a go at stripping it
Has anybody got any cutaway pics of the 5 speed box as the haynes only has the 4 speed just incase it all goes Pete Tounge
or any info at all on the 5 speed box
