Default Series 1 takes 10mins to start!

hi, this morning it took 10mins of turning my car over for it to start. any ideas? ive been having problems but since today it has always started after a couple of tries. Ive had the dizzy off and cleaned it up, also cleaned the plugs up. Once the engine is warm it starts fine, its just in the morning and after work. Help !!

its not the cold start injector because when it does start it does rev higher which its ment to. I get the odd splutter every now and then, then it splutters and starts then is smooth as ya like

I would suggest that you could start looking around the Metering Head for small weaping leaks, especially the electromagnetic Pressure Actuator, small leaks here will let the fuel pressure drop off over night, then there won't be no pressure for it to start. Had this with mine, even though i don't use it, it was when id pull it out the garage it wouldn't start, but soon as it had been running it would, but then come the next day for instance and it wouldn't start.

rite, THIS MORNIN really pissed me off was out on my drive tryin to start it at 6.45! no joy! so after fekin about checkin it was sparkin and everythin which it was, i took one of the injector pipes off and turned it over. No petrol was comin through at all. SO i took the plugs out (AGAIN!) and put a bit of petrol in each cylinder, plugs back in fires up first time and kept goin! So now im thinkin it has to be losing pressure over nite like you said but howcome it doesnt stall after ive burt off wot ive poured on the pistons? is it just not building up enough pressure wen turning over?

cheers for ya help so far guys

you will only get a tiny dribble of fuel out if you take the the injector line off and crank it over!! you have to push the flap down in the metering head at the same time to get it to jet fuel out!!

try disconnecting the cold start valve.

i had similar problems with mine when i first bought it, after much messing around it turned out to be a dodgy fuel pump relay. worth a try

Rite, found a tiny petrol leak from where the fuel line goes in2 the filter so went to Ford and got couple of new copper washers which solved the leak. It still doesnt like starting but at least it actually starts now! ive disconnected the cold start valve 2. its definatly not the fuel pump as you can hear it workin
