Default how fast?

hi i just sold my 2wd cozzy (it going on friday) and want something bit cheaper to insure so thought i might get another rst. was wondering if you can make them as quick as a cozzy and how much it would cost. had a standard 1 2 years ago and it went well but would like something to keep up with all the subarus around my way.

Piece of piss to get up to 200bhp. I think it's about 180bhp you have the same power to weight ratio as a stock Cos (not that there are many of those )

Assuming the car is standard I would go with:

Chip
-31 Actuator
Decent intercooler
Decent exhaust
K&N panel in standard drilled air box
Cam kit & vernier pulley

This little lot shouldn't break the bank and you can do it in stages.
Don't forget to sort the suspension and brakes as well though

No, an RST will never be as quick as Cosworth

I had 200bhp with just a chip, intercooler, exhaust and a cone filter. No need for this cam lark

You will soon get bored of 200bhp though...

wouldn't go chasing cossie's mate

and like these have said 200hp isn't enough to keep you happy or to beat any serious cars...

and going above 200hp is where the money piles up

Scared of posting against Steve now! but someone in our regional group had a 200+bhp Fiesta (easy) that 'reportedley beat a 300bhp Escos on a rolling start, not sure how true or accurate this is but IIRC the owner of the Escos admitted to it!

Thats about right though, 200bhp is a fair amount to put down through the front wheels!

What ya got in mind?

my old rs was 210bhp i rased a 2wd cossie and beat it by quite a bit on a long striaght stopped and asked the guy what he was running he said 260bhp had another go of the next set of lights and done him again

but i sold the car to a mate and he tried it with the same cossie and got dusted
so by the sound of it the cossie is no longer standard i want to race him in my new rs just to see what its got
im not disputing the fact that cossies are FAST CARS but if u come up against some one who cannot drive won in a 200bhp erst youve got a good chance

I'm looking forward to racing Dave and Damo in their Escort Cosworths.

Damo's will be 380 and Dave's will be 410... Should be interesting

Close mate.

I've played a few times with Switch and his old stage 3 Cossie and when we were playing (at the speed limit ) on the way back from the Beds RSOC meet there wasn't much in the cars once rolling up to about 120mph.

Don't get me wrong though his Cos was quicker just not by a large enough margin for me to sell up and get one.

I'm happy wth the RST and won't be selling up. We were considering a Cossie for Rach but after thinking properly we decided on a 2nd RST instead
